It's Not A Fad Diet
Ayurveda is not a restrictive fad diet. It’s an expansive language and gateway to learning your body and how to nourish yourself based on your environment, your digestive capacity and your unique needs.

In fact, Ayurveda does not even require you to be vegetarian. Ayurvedic cooking works with a wide range of foods in the plant and animal kingdom. But rather than consuming mindlessly, Ayurvedic wisdom teaches us how to consume in an intentional, functional way, with methods that make a meal more digestible.

FAQS

Do I need any previous experience with Ayurveda?
Nope, all you need is an open mind and a desire to try new things. This is not an Ayurveda 101 course (you can find that course here if you’re interested!), simply a place to cook together and expand your food knowledge base. You’ll learn tips, tricks, remedies and seasonal Ayurvedic wisdom along the way.

What kitchen experience do I need?
This cooking club is open to all experience levels and we aim to share a range of techniques for the novice to the seasoned cook. Our weekday themed recipes will be simple and quick to make for those busy days, and our weekend recipes may inspire you to flex your creative muscles a little more in the kitchen. Above all, this is a learning platform and we welcome all questions along the way.

Will all the recipes taste like curry?
Ayurvedic cooking spans far beyond kitchari and curries! The recipes in our cooking club will celebrate cuisines from around the world with an Ayurvedic spin. Ayurvedic pizza? French-inspired roast chicken? Yes, it’s possible! Ayurvedic cooking uses universal principles to understand actions of ingredients (heating, cooling, moistening, drying, building, lightening, etc) and can be applied to a range of flavors. You can expect a diverse mix of dishes and flavors also familiar to a Western palate.

Are these the same recipes in your book and blog?
No, they are not. You can expect all new recipes each month not found in my first book, Living Ayurveda, or on my website recipe index. Get inspired with fresh content and cooking ideas tailored to the season!

Why omnivore? I thought Ayurvedic cooking was vegetarian only?
This is a common myth! If you think Ayurvedic cooking is only vegetarian, only curries and kitchari, and mushy porridge, then get excited to find out that these are common myths. In fact, Ayurvedic cooking works with all ranges of foods in the plant and animal kingdom. But rather than consuming mindlessly, Ayurvedic wisdom teaches us how to consume in an intentional, functional way, using methods that make a meal more digestible. Throughout the year, we’ll discuss ethics and how to source quality animal products when using these ingredients, and ways to prepare them according to your digestive capacity and needs. If you’re vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free, we’ll discuss ingredient modifications, too! In the Omnivore’s Ayurvedic Cooking Club, you’ll take away a range of plant-focused/animal-inclusive recipes and cooking methods that you can apply to stay balanced through the seasons, with take a more inclusive and flexible approach to whole foods eating.

Will this require specialty ingredients?
You may be introduced to new spices in this recipe club. However, we will always suggest ingredient alternatives and aim to make dishes easy and accessible. We also provide US-based and international sourcing links to specialty ingredients in case you’d like to expand your pantry!

What tools will I need?
No fancy equipment required here. You’ll need a few pots and pans with lids, a cutting board and sharp knife, a mixing bowl or two, cooking spoons (we recommend wooden), and a blender is a plus for creamy soups and sauces. We also love a good microplane or handheld grater, but a knife works just fine, too. Inside our Cooking Club platform, you’ll find a page with recommended cookware and sources. We’ll also provide a list of equipment for each monthly recipe and shopping list release.

How long are the cooking classes?
Live cooking classes are 90 minutes long with a 30 minute Q&A time at the end of each session. We email out the class recipes and shopping list a week before so you can prep your kitchen and join us live via Zoom. All live classes are recorded and available to watch at your own pace in our course platform if you can’t join us live. Expect one live cooking class and Q&A with Claire each month (12 total for the annual cycle).

What about refunds?
We offer seasonal and annual membership subscriptions, which can be cancelled at any point to end future billing cycles. All sales are final on seasonal and annual purchases.
